The most prestigious junior chess tournaments are the World Age Group Champions and the European Age Group Championships organized by FIDE. These competitions, held in the 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and under 20 age categories, are followed by World and European Schools champions. The fact that Turkey is one of the first countries to implement chess in schools and that there is a very high number of participants in Turkish age group championships is an indication that Turkish championships are at least as challenging as the world and European champions.
We congratulate Işık Can again, who came second in the World Under 8 Championship in 2013, in these competitions that witnessed great competition. First of all, the children's own wishes and discipline, then their families, teachers and our chess federation have a great share in these successes achieved as a result of long and regular work.
